The non-profit association the Amics del Centre d’Art I Natura de Farrera was created in 1998 to facilitate the development of the CAN. It now administers every aspect of the Centre: it designs its cultural and residential programme, contracts its staff and is responsible for the upkeep and development of its amenities and services.
The five spheres of cultural activities are:
* Grants and exchanges with other centres on the International Res Artis network: details of these offers are published at the beginning of the year and are aimed at Catalan artists and researchers.
* Seminars and courses: every year courses related to art and nature are organised on subjects ranging from scientific illustration to morphology and cooking.
* Exhibition and management of the art collection: voluntary donations have given rise to an art collection (contemporary work and studies of the mountains) that is regularly exhibited, especially in the local area.
* Own publications: Farrera, denominació d’origen is a collection of original works created at the CAN to depict and honour our mountain setting.
* Presentations and performances: resident artists can, if they wish, present their work at the end of their stay. Small-scale performances are also organised every year.
